I have tried to teach him a few things about using a camera….but he just does not want to hear it from his mom. But from someone else….that is another thing all together!

Yes I do have an older child. He is just to much like me and hates to be in front of the camera. But guess what! He has no choice now! He is almost 18 and I want to get as many photos as I can before he is officially a man. I feel so old sometimes when I look at him!

We just finished a round of the tummy bug in our house. All 5 of us got it within a 3 day period. It is very hard to take care of sick kids when you are sick yourself. Isaac was so good about being sick! He barley complained at all...and when he did he was so darn cute!

Wow has it really been since September that I posted photos of the kids. I will try to be better at getting more photos on the blog. I do take photos all the time....I just don't edit them. James did a wonderful job! Mellissa not so much. Once we came inside I found out why after I took here temp. Poor girl has a 102 fever! Isaac lasted about 2 seconds outside so I had Matthew take him in so I could just do photos of Mellissa and James. Today I asked the kids to give me some attitude. And boy did they! I have so many more to edit! But wanted to show a few.

This mornings beach outing

The kids don't understand that the weekends are for sleeping in. So I decided to pack them up and head out the door even before the sun was up. Getting Matthew out of bed to join us was a failed attempt. We did not stay to long for I forgot to bring any extra diapers for Isaac. The last few minutes there I just let him run around naked and prayed that he didn't poop in his car seat on the way home. I wonder what a cop would think if I got pulled over seeing a naked baby in his car seat with just a towel over his baby bits in case he peed.

Did I mention that early morning is my favorite time on the beach!

Isaacs first experiance at the beach

My favorite time on the beach is when the sun is rising. Mornings are also the most quiet and peaceful time of day.

This morning I decided to take Isaac and drag Matthew with me to the beach.

At first Isaac was not quite sure what to think of the beach. The first 5 minutes he looked at the water with a scowl on his face.

Then he noticed the sand and tested it out with 1 finger.

Then with a whole hand.

Then he saw a stick he wanted.

Next think I know he quickly stands up and rushes toward the water. He loves water!

I gave up keeping him out of the water after a few minutes. He was determined!

Then I asked Matthew to take him for a little walk so I could get a silhouette photo.

I took the kids to Frosting today. The kids told me they want to come every day. I don't blame them! I of course had to bring home some treats for myself. There goes the weight I lost last week!

Today Isaac turns 1. He was not into the cake as much as I though he would be. In fact I was hoping he would get really really messy! But that did not happen. At least he made me happy by putting his foot in his cake. And we all know how much I love to photograph toes :-)

Oh and notice the finger painting on the wall behind him with icing. I think I have an artist for a son!

I took the kids outside this morning to burn off some energy with some balls. Maybe they will lay down with me for a nap later today. Isaac was mostly sitting on the sideline watching.

This is what we did this afternoon. And if I had waited just 15 minutes to throw the kids in the bath, I could have just taken them outside in the quick rain storm.

It is so fun making a mess! Issac had the honors of helping me clean up while the other ones were bathing.

Life has been crazy and frustrating. If you read my facebook at all you will understand.

I keep thinking about updating. I do have many photos of the kids I have taken over the last few months. But I have not even tried to edit them.

Isaac is 10 months today. He is cruising furniture, so I bet he will be walking soon.

Mellissa Just lost another tooth

James lost his first tooth.

I am getting work but not enough. I need to pay off my dept! I am helping someone with the MayFest tomorrow so maybe that will help bring in some more clients. I really don't want to have to get a regular job. I like that I can be here for my kids when ever they need me. It is much easier to postpone a photo shoot because of a sick kid then to call in sick to a job.

I finally got my Mississippi Drivers license. I am no longer a resident of Alaska. Soon I will get MS plates for the Car. I did not have all the paper work I needed to get Matthew his permit. We will take care of that next week.

Did a photo shoot for another photographer today. It was very fun! She is going to help me with some logos and branding for my biz. I may be photographing her birth if the timing is right :-)

Well that is a quick up date. I will try soon to edit some photos of the kids and post them.

Rain, Isaac and other news.

My little man Issac is sick :-( He had a fever a few days ago but it only lasted 24 hours. He was ok for a couple of days....then yesterday started to sniffle and cough a bit. He kept me up most of the night last night. I hope it does not get to bad.

Well my trip that I was planning on taking to CA for my 20th reunion is now cancelled. Don't really want to get into the details....but you can say I am bummed. The good news is that I will be saving myself a good chunk of money now that I am not going.

The kids have been having a ball with the rain. We get outside almost every time after a good one. We just can not pass up those puddles!

Another fog outing

Woke up to thick fog so I just had to get out and shoot! Most of the time I just hung out with the birds. I need to find a photography partner to motivate me to get out and shoot more for myself. Mornings when the light is just waking up is my favorite time.

Issac is now crawling and his first tooth just popped through yesterday. Mellissa just lost another tooth a few days ago. Matthew is going through some grown up changes. But I will not get into that for fear of embarrassing him to much :-) He actually asked me to take his photo with his new hair cut! He never wants me to take his photo! I think he is starting to have more confidence in himself :-)

I know it has been a while since I updated. I have been pretty busy moving to a new place as well as have been sick off and on. I still have a ton of boxes to unload.

I finally had a chance to shoot Isaac over the last few days as well as got out to shoot more fog. I have also been playing with a new program since I do not yet have photoshop on my new laptop. Can you believe I have finally taken the jump to shooting in RAW! And like so many others will not go back. It is so nice not to have to worry about setting your white balance all the time. Especially when shooting out doors on a partially cloudy day when the color changes all the time. I have also updated my price list with details posted on my biz blog.

Another foggy day

I packed up the kids and took them with me to go shooting this morning. I bribed Mellissa and James with some play time on the beach. Matthew just wanted to sit in the car with Isaac and listen to music. I don't blame him since I did not give him a chance to wake up when I told him I wanted to go out :-)

After getting the kids off to school I took a drive to the beach. I have been waiting for a day like this to get out and shoot. I am sure glad it waited for me to feel better from being sick.

I have not shot in fog like this before so am still learning. If any photo friends know a great way to shoot in fog let me know. My photos are showing tons of noise. They still look cool....but not sure how well they would print big.

Lots has been going on since my last post. But I will write about that later. I did something drastic that I wanted to show you.

I got bangs!

I can't believe I am even showing a photo of myself. I the one who is always behind the camera and never in front of it. But I love love love my new hair. The reason I got it cut like this was not because I wanted to but because I had to. I have always lost lots of hair after having each child and it always came back. But with Isaac it was way more drastic! I have started to get bald spots by my hair line. I will not even go out of the house with out wearing a headband to cover it up. Most of you who know me know that I wear my hair away from my face. So loosing my hair in the front is a big deal!

I was afraid I was going to hate it and just have to suffer till I could grow them out again. But I love them!!! I think I will keep them :-) I think they make me look younger which is good considering I will be 38 this month.

I started Isaac in rice cereal last night. He has been showings signs of wanting to eat for a while now. He did a good job for a first timer :-)

He also has a new friend that holds his attention quite well. This was one of many beanie babies my mom gave me before Mellissa was born. They are not worth anything since the kids decided to tear off all the tags one day. So now they are friends of Issac who has become quite fond of them. They are perfect for his little hands to play with and his gums to chomp on.

A day off from school

The kids had today off from school. So I left a happy well fed baby with Matthew and took off to the beach with Mellissa and James. The tide was pretty far out this morning so there where lots of little holes from clams just at the water line. The kids did not want to go in the water much because of it. Most of the time they ran back and forth on the beach. The cool thing was that it was "cruising the coast" day. So as we were playing on the beach we watched many very cool cars drive by. Also took more photos of Isaac yesterday.

ChaCha fun!

I have been having fun working for ChaCha! I wish I could get more time to do it though. Hard to do searches and answer questions fast when you are holding a baby all the time. He going through a needy stage right now.

My oldest is now a man of God! On Sunday Matthew was baptized! Since someone forgot to fill the baptistery we went to the beach. I wish I had the pleasure of being baptized in the ocean! Maybe I will do it again just for the experience.

ChaCha!

I have been looking for other ways to make money while still being a stay at home mom. It will take a while to really get my name out there for my photography. A few days ago I found a company called ChaCha. I had never heard of them before. I did some research first to make sure they where legit. Turns out they have been on many shows and in articles about how great they are.

How it works is people call or text ChaCha with questions they have about anything. It is free for them to do so. I get paid to answer their question they receive via text. I have been having so much fun doing this! Sometimes it can be pretty hard if I can not find an answer. The first day I was really slow at getting the answers. But now I am getting faster and faster. On average someone can make about $9/hour once they get the hang of finding the answers. I know it is not much...but it will be a way for me to help pay off our dept and to also sock some money away.

I am tired of everyone getting sick all the time. We did not get sick this often in Anchorage! MS must be a breading ground for germs. I wonder if the humidity has something to do with it. This time it is a tummy bug that is just spreading its way around the family. It started about 2 weeks ago with Mellissa and I hope I am the last one. I did not go to church yesterday since I had to stay near a bathroom. Isaac is the only one that has been healthy. I sure hope we can keep it that way. My allergies have flared up again to.

I got my hair cut. It has been around 9 months since it has been done by the wonderful Wil in AK. Took me a while to find someone that did a dry cut and knew how to cut layers. She thinned my hair out a bit more than I wanted....but it does make it easier to take care of it. I only cut off about 1 inch from the length.

The little ones both had things going on at school on Friday. I was afraid James was not going to be able to go because his system was not happy. So glad he did. I was also very crafty last week. I had to make a Mad Hatter hat for Mellissa for a tea party and some kind of transportation out of cardboard for James.

The light was so bad in Mellissa's class room! The windows were covered and all I had was a really low florescent light. yuck! I did not end up with to many photos of her. James had his event outside and since it was a wonderful overcast day the light was great! I took many photos.

Isaac 2 months

A couple of days ago my little man turned 2 months. He has changed so much! He coos and smiles and is such a little flirt! But when it came to doing his 2 month photos he was not a happy little guy.

I think some people don't believe me when I say I have a 16 year old. Well here is proof.

These where taken today after a needed shave and a hair cut. He is so much like me when it comes to getting his photo taken! It was a struggle just to get these. But when I had him take a photo with Isaac he was much more comfortable.

5:30 am is so early!

I am not a morning person! And getting up at 5:30 every day is not easy for me. When they first started school I would go back to bed for a few hours. But the last few weeks I have been staying up. If I stay up I get so much more done during the day then if I go back to sleep. Some times I do take a nap later in the day...but only if I need it.

Right now I am getting James ready for the bus. Mellissa is staying home today :-( I had to pick her up at school yesterday morning because she had a fever. It was only 100 when she came home but later that afternoon it shot to 103.4. I have not taken her temp this morning....but she felt hot. She was very upset when I told her she was not going to school today.

I am still also sick. I have a bad cold that I may just have to get checked out. But doctors don't really like to see you unless you have had it a good week or so.

The smoke alarms in this house are all connected. The started to go off every so often just about when we where putting the kids down last night. So Rob and I went out to the store to get some batteries to change them out. The sucky thing about having them all connected is you do not know what one is out. Now that they are changed out they are still going off but not every 10 min or so but every few hours. We have no idea why they are doing that! It gets very annoying!

I have a cold and Isaac has a bit of one to. But thank God he does not have a fever. I don't want to go through all that stuff at the hospital again!

I had a fun photo shoot this morning. It is so nice to be shooting again! Matthew watched Isaac for me while I was gone. I pumped right before I left so he could feed him with a bottle if he needed to. I was worried because he had never had a bottle before. Right before I got home Matthew feed him and said he took it just fine. I am so glad he took the bottle...now I don't have to worry about taking him with me on photo shoots. Matthew is happy that he will be getting paid.

I made it back home in 9 hours yesterday. Much better than the 14 it took to get there. I did not run into any gridlock at all! Isaac even slept 5 hours for me last night :-) While in Nashville I had a chance to finish editing a photo shoot I had a week or so ago. This little doll was born just 10 days before Isaac.

I am tired and am also getting sick! Several have told me I should take advantage of the fact that I am in Nashville and look at all the sites. But when you have 4 kids to drag around with you when you don't feel good...it does not sound fun to me. I knew I should have just stayed home! Nothing is happening to Ocean Springs. I really just want to drive home tomorrow morning but I have to wait till the AF tells me I can.

It does not help that this hotel sucks!

We have to cram 5 of us into two double beds. The wallpaper is pealing off the walls. They did not have any spare blankets! They only gave us two towels (Matthew grabbed some off the cart when the cleaning lady was busy :-P ). A repair man had to come to the room to fix the phone that was not working. The dog is also smelling up the room! Normally he is not a stinky dog...but Rob shaved him a couple of days ago and for some reason I think that is making him stink more.

OH! and it took me 14 hours to drive here!

We just got a call telling us that we have to evacuate tomorrow. Rob will be going to AL and we are on-line now trying to get a hotel in TN or someplace that will take pets. I hope to have internet while I am gone. I really did not want to do this! I have never driven more than 3 hours on my own and am not looking forward to such a long drive. Also having to nurse a baby every 3 hours or less on the road is not going to be fun! The pets are also not going to be very happy with us.

We took the kids to the splash pad yesterday. This time since it was hotter they stayed in the water instead of going over to the play ground. I took a ton of photos! We may take them again today.

These days Isaac is most happy when he gets to stand!

As many of you know hurricane may make its way here. It looks like they think it is going to be more west of us...but you never know. They can change fast. We have made plans if we need to evacuate and if we need to stay. You should have seen the stores when I went to buy stuff. I was in luck I went when I did! One other lady and I at Wal-Mart got the last of the water! As it is Wal-Mart was out of gas cans and flash light. Batteries where very low as well. Many businesses are starting to board up their windows. We are going to wait and see if it is necessary.

Back home with Isaac

The doctor got us out of there pretty early this morning. She knew I wanted to go home!

Isaac's stay in the hospital you could say was a catch 22. If we did not go them something horrible was probably going to happen. But since we stayed...he probably really did not need to be there. His fever was gone the next day with out any meds at all. The only reason we stayed there for so long was because of the antibiotics. Part of me is glad that they take such precautions with infants....but I am also kind of ticked that Isaac had to go through so much when it turned out be nothing. He probably just caught a bit of the cold that the kids had.

The room we stayed in was pretty ghetto! I did not take a shower all those days because the bathroom just did not look clean enough for me. We did have good care though and I liked all the nurses and techs. I even gave out some business cards :-)

I for one am glad to be back home with a healthy baby and my bed!

Well I guess we did not get so lucky with this little one
I have been in the hospital with Isaac since yesterday afternoon. We started out in the emergency room with a fever and will be here at least till Wednesday. When infants get a fever I guess they have to run all sorts of tests to make sure not something serious is wrong. Infants don't have an immune system so they can get very sick. Poor little man had a catheter put in to take some urine, IV put in and a spinal tap! They would not let us in the room for the spinal tap...but I could hear him. It was hart wrenching!!!! They also had to poke him 5 times before they could get the IV in. They ended up putting it in his head!

So far the tests are coming out ok. They don't know what caused the fever and want to keep him on antibiotics to kill what ever did cause it. They are sure he will be just fine.

I will write more details later when I am not so tired...I will also have photos of his poor little head.

Splash Pad

A Splash pad opened up recently in Ocean Springs. We finally took the kids there today. Good thing we took them this morning! Looks like a big storm is moving in. It started to get very windy while we were there.

My plan was to get lots of photos like this one.

But the kids had other plans and wanted to play at the side where they had a play ground instead. I think it was a bit chilly for them to play in the water even though it is 80+ outside!

When it was time to go these are the reactions I got. We even had tears from Mellissa Rose. I hope they decide to play in the water more next time.
